Significant Works of TBM Pipe Jacking
The project was located in To Kwa Wan along To Kwa Wan Road, Chi Kiang Street and Yuk Yat Street, installing Jacking Pipe ID1500mm with total length of 1200m. This Pipe Jacking Works was carried out nearby the sea shore and was divided into 9 sections, of which the longest section was approximate to 260m.
Underground conditions, throughout the area were extremely poor with high pressure ground water and consist of historical undertaking plants, some of which were deteriorated or totally collapsed. During the operation of pipe jacking, we found that slurry pumped out from TBM Shield-head was black with awful smell, mingled with rubbish, wooden fragment, cobbles etc. Alignment control was difficult and roller cutter got damaged seriously. We also came across with difficulties in replacing the damaged roller cutters. With our staff experience and efforts, the project was successfully completed.
